"Sour Cream Favors"

I have just discovered these adorable favors. Created them and love them. The ideas are endless as well as the use for them. I made them for an upcoming brunch, they are filled with dark chocolate kisses. How pretty they will look on the table. The shape may look familiar to some of you.
Yes, they are called "Sour Cream Favors".

I believe the name came from one of the Fast food restaurants (Wendy's) When your baked potato arrives the sour cream comes  in these cute disposable containers. This is a favor everyone will talk about.
We can guarantee they are far from sour.
Filled Sweet candy kisses (or your candy choice).
Trimmed and decorated to match your event. My brain is going crazy with ideas!! How pretty for a wedding with pearl trims and ribbons.
Now designing for a baby shower will post all the ideas soon!!

Please tell us what you think!

Retro Gifts

Wow, can you believe how popular the Retro theme is? Last night my husband came home from work with a huge letter “C” for my son’s room. I began to sing the theme song from the “Mary Tyler Moore” Show, remember that show? Mary had a huge letter “M” on the wall, every girl went out and got one, my sister had a letter V.

Retro furniture, clothes, music and of course candy! I have found some really great sites that are all about Retro, here are some of my favorites… http://www.retroplanet.com/ wow this sites has a little bit of everything. I love the kitchen tables, vintage posters, toys and more. I would love to re-do my kitchen and make it look like an old fashion diner; sometimes I feel like a short order cook.

The next site makes personalized vintage reproduction signs, has gifts for her and him and they even have pink princess phones. I picture myself lying on the bed chatting on this phone to my girlfriends. For the music lover they have Reproduction Jukeboxes, how cool is that and they use Cds. You have the look of nostalgia with today's technology http://www.jackandfriends.com/store/customer/home.php
My very favorite site is http://www.groovycandies.com/pc/ of course it’s all about candy. This site represents the nostalgic candy era. From Turkish taffy, wax lips, candy cigarettes to candy buttons they have it all.

This site inspired us to design our new Retro candy cans. Our cans are quart size and come in three styles well, years 50’s 60’s and 70’s. Each can design represents the year and is filled with candy from that time period. This is a perfect touch for theme parties, a great gift or even centerpiece. (pics coming soon).

We have posted this information without being asked and hope you share with us some sites you have visited.

Have a Groovy Day!

Affordable Party Ideas

Wow it has been a long time since I have "Blogged." With Face-book now and all the new social networks it's really hard to keep up with all my sites. Of course the number one site to visit is wrapunzelwraps.com Ha!
As another summer has approached I got to thinking and researching party ideas. Now I know this list is long but, I think it is rather helpful and of course you can alter the party to your needs. I would love to hear some feedback and other ideas too.

Affordable Party Ideas!

I was thinking of Fun Party ideas that are not only for kids but great for adults too. Searching the net I came across ideas that are adult oriented and could also be altered for young adults and kids too. I believe every party should have a theme, this gets your guests excited and they know they won't be sitting in the corner bored...NEVER! I hope you save it for your future party plans; this is a long list...Enjoy

Mystery Event: This is my favorite and can cost as little or as much as you and your group want to spend. Pick a host and hostess and a budget per person or couple. You then send out an invitation to join the hosts at a secret location. *With GPS now it’s hard to be secretive, I suggest have them follow you. In your invite tell them how to dress, type of shoes and how long the night will last (casual, comfortable shoes, 2hrs and $25 ea.) Your guests now know they are going someplace fun but where? That's up to the host; they can end up at Laser Tag, a Dance studio, Mystery theater night, a play, Concert in the park etc.The list is endless to the events you can set up. This depends on your friends and of course how adventurous they are and your money budget. Don't forget to bring the camera and take pics. Your next party can be sharing the nights event with all the photos that were taken. Enjoy

Scavenger Hunts: Remember to make it fun.
Kid Scavenger Hunt-Make sure the items they are searching for can be easily found. (Brush, penny, toothbrush, gum wrapper, etc) If you do it at night make sure they all have flash lights and are well supervised. Keep the kids in a central area so you can keep track of them. You can have teams of 2 or more depending on how many kids you invite. Don't forget to give them a check list and bag so they can put all their collectibles in.

Scavenger Hunt Drive and Do: This is a great Adult and Family game; bring your video or digital camera for proof. You break down into groups with a list of activities that must be accomplished, your proof is videotaped. Can be Silly like dancing in front of a Movie theater or Riding a Skateboard to helpful like carrying some ones groceries? (Remember everyone in the group must participate) Make a list and have the groups leave in different directions so they don't bump into one another. Give them a time frame and when they come back have food and drinks, let the laughs begin!!

Toga Party: Yes I said it a Toga party. Have everyone dress up in a toga. Togas can easily be made from sheets or reminisce found in a fabric or craft store. Be really creative and make a crown made of leaves and branches. You can never go wrong with a toga party and if rains have it indoors and pop the movie in "Animal House" and really Toga Toga!

Hollywood/ Broadway Party: Roll out the red carpet! Use inexpensive red felt and roll it out so your guests will have their "Red Carpet" walk of fame! Have your guests dress up as their favorite Actor or Actress. Invitation’s can be designed to look like Playbills or Movie tickets. Tables can be decorated with rich fabrics and centerpieces can be made out of poster board (Make Stars with your guest’s names). Use old movie posters as decorations. The vote is in and the winner goes to-handout the awards for best dressed and look alike. Serve popcorn and have a candy station filled with assorted movie style candies. (Great for Kids) Use your digital camera and take pictures of your guests as they arrive and then give it to them when they leave. This party can also be turned into an elegant sit down dinner you can even make it a black tie event. Serve champagne or sparkling cider. Perfect for Oscar night!! Party stores have great decorations for all events.

Nuts and Bolts Party:
When the guests arrive the women reach into a bag of hardware and grab a nut; the men reach into another bag of hardware and grab a bolt. The party is spent trying to find out whose nut and bolt fit together. If you’re looking for decoration ideas the kids section is perfect using Bob the Builder theme, Construction hats, tool belts, etc. Use construction hats to serve food in, the ideas can be in your own garage!
This is a perfect mixer party to help people mingle and meet.

"Arlene we used this idea for a business gathering, it was so much fun. What a way to break up what could have been a stuffy event." Thanks so much SJ-NY NY

World Party: Whether it’s indoors or outdoors areas can be set up with beverages and food stations from around the world. For example, a White Russian represents Russia and a Margarita represents Mexico. Decorations can be different Maps, globes, travel brochures. If you really want to get your guest involved have them represent a country; they can dress up and bring a food dish too. Of course, if drinkers are underage then the drinks should be made virgin style.

Pajama Pizza party: Guests show up wearing pajamas and party all night in their flannels and puppy dog slippers. This party can easily be altered for all ages and is great for Diva sleep over’s. Get out the game "Twister" and the video camera!

70's party:
Everyone dresses up in their grooviest clothes and dances the night away to 70's music. This can be done with any decade. Party stores have tons of decorations for this theme. You can also Tie-dye T-shirts for the kids and the adult hippie. Peace and Love baby!!

Graffiti party: Your guests show up in plain white t-shirts and everyone is given a washable marker. Party goers spend the night drawing pictures and writing messages on each other's shirts. If you are have a Graffiti Birthday party, have all the kids write something they like about the birthday child on the shirts. Take lots of pictures for happy memories. The kids leave with a great party favor.

Pretty in Pink party: Everyone wears pink (yes, the guys too). Drinks are pink. Decorations are pink. It makes for a fun setting and is great for picture-taking. Don't forget the Pink Boa's and Martini's. Everyone is a Diva at this party!

"What a great sweet-sixteen idea! My daughter wanted to do something different and this idea was perfect. From Adults to the kids we were all in pink. We even had the catering hall decorated in pink. We added some accents of black and the event was perfect. The bartender made Virgin strawberry margaritas for the kids and served them in margarita glasses. As far as the decorations we did black table cloths and put pink over them and our centerpieces were your giant Candy Sundaes done all in pink taffy and trimmed in pink boas! We added your Personalized chocolate bars and minis to all the tables and even had a Candy station for the kids to attack. Your idea to add the Cotton Candy machine was perfect for the kiddies and in addition to the party favors for the kids, the Personalized Margarita pouches was a great added touch for the adults. We can't thank you enough." Maria-Dix Hills, NY

Summer already!!! Are your kids torturing you and are you traveling with this GAS???

Like Alice Cooper says: "Schools out for Summer!"
Yep my son is thrilled and announces daily that he is home for 2 months...do you hear me screaming already! Am I the only one that wishes school to be year long??? Dreading the Summer and the daily question..."What are we doing today" and my favorite saying "I'm Bored" well how about going to summer school, now I wish he wasn't an A student. Ha
I see my friends struggling trying to find camps, workshops and ANY summer program they can find to put their kids in due to their work schedules. This is so frustrating for the working parents, you want to be able to enjoy the summer with your kids but, working makes this difficult. Can we talk about the ridiculous costs of Camps!!! $200 for a week of baseball camp, $800+ for the Y and that is only one session. $1000's of dollars for day camps does the working parent ever get ahead and now to add to the grief is the cost of gas!!! Which I can rant for hours about. My son wants to write to the President to complain that our summer vacation to Rhode Island is now cancelled because gas here on Long Island is over $4.50 for premium. We now walk and see his local grandparents(1/2 hour away) only twice a month.
Do we all ban together to not drive for 1 day, do we see the price going down in the future and will the new president help this crisis or are we already doomed???? I think this is the first time in my life that I have been so affected by the economy and have really felt it in my pocket. Now I put money aside just for gas..are u kidding me!!!

I think everyone should stay home and order tons of chocolate goodies from me and Party!!! OK I thought that was funny. Would love to hear what everyone is doing for the summer and how they are handling the gas crisis??? We hope everyone will have a wonderful summer no matter what you do or where you go. Pack a picnic and enjoy each other!

Field day fun!
